Since March last year over 100 people from Bath and the surrounding area (aged 8 to 82!) have been coming together each week to rehearse something really special. And one of them is our very own Peter George, High Littleton Repair Cafe and Schools Workshop volunteer.
The Theatre Royal are bringing David Copperfield to life, following him from baby to grown-up as he tries to find love, connection, and a place where he belongs. It’s full of Dickens’sunforgettable characters—Peggotty, Betsey Trotwood, Steerforth, Barkis (played by Peter)—and they’ve got live music, creative storytelling, and even BSL integrated into the show.
Peter said “Working with award winning director Sally Cookson (she did Jane Eyre and Peter Pan at the National Theatre!) has made it such a fun, bold, and joyful experience. In fact, the show is a completely new adaptation of Dicken’s timeless story complete with newly composed score and songs.”
Performances take place at the Theatre Royal Bath on the main stage from Friday 20 — Sunday 22 February. It’s a show that promises to take you through a range of emotions as it follows David Copperfield’s life.
