HOW TO Workshops

Whether you’d like to improve your confidence with sewing projects, learn about how to tackle the climate emergency, or listen to a talk by a costume designer at the Theatre Royal, we’ve got something for you.

Come along to a HOW TO workshop this month! To attend you will need a ticket, these are donation based so please give what you can afford. Under 18s are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

✨ Beyond the Basics: Sewing with Confidence ✨

This friendly, hands-on workshop is ideal for anyone who understands the basics of using their sewing machine but lacks confidence when it comes to actually making something or finishing a task like putting in a zip, sewing neat seams, or completing a project.

If you’ve ever thought “I know how to do this… I just want someone to check I’m doing it right”, this session is for you.

The focus is on building confidence, with a volunteer tutor on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide support as you sew. You’ll work at your own pace, with help exactly when you need it.

Running alongside our Repair Cafe at Farmborough Memorial Hall, bring along your sewing machine and build the confidence to sew with ease.

📅 Saturday 10th January from 10:00am – 12:30pm

📍 Farmborough Memorial Hall, Little Lane, Farmborough, Bath BA2 0AH

✨ Climate Fresk ✨

Join us to learn how climate change works and how you can take effective action in your community.

We’re hosting a Climate Fresk where you will join in a fun and interactive session that will help you to understand the causes and consequences of climate change, and how to work together for effective climate engagement.

Melusine Pigeon , a volunteer repairer and also a lecturer in sustainability at the University of Bath will be facilitating this session. Get your climate change questions answered and leave with ideas on how you can make a difference.

📅 Saturday 17th January from 1:30pm – 4:30pm

📍 Share and Repair Hub, Lower Bristol Road, Bath BA2 3EW

✨ Dressing Up Box ✨

Join us for an afternoon of all things design and craft at the Theatre Royal!

Enjoy a talk by costume designer, Katie Sykes, as she unravels her years of costume design experience and brings to life her process when designing for theatre. Bring along your own sewing, design and craft projects to talk through with fellow sewers over a cup of tea, and receive helpful tips and tricks from our sewing volunteers at Share and Repair.

📅 Sunday 25th January from 2pm – 5pm

📍 Theatre Royal, Saw Close, Bath BA1 1ET

If you know someone who would enjoy learning any of these skills, or would love a climate workshop, why not consider getting them a gift card for one of our HOW TO workshops? These are redeemable against any of the Share and Repair workshops, so your friend or family member can pick and choose what they wish to learn, and walk away with lifelong skills.

We look forward to seeing you at an event in January!
