In February, we ran our first ever HOW TO Use a Thermal Imaging Camera workshop!
The workshop kicked off with some classical music and a question for the attendees, what did they think the connection was between the music and the workshop? Then, the amazing Tim from Go Green Widcombe revealed the answer—the composer, William Herschel, lived just around the corner (behind the Sainsbury’s car park!) and was the very person who discovered infrared in 1800! Thanks to him, we’re able to use Thermal Imaging Cameras today, which are based on infrared technology. Click here to hear the symphony!

Throughout the workshop, we covered how to operate the camera, interpret the images, and take practical steps to improve home energy efficiency. Hila said “it was fantastic to see the attendees eager to learn how to identify energy leaks and cold spots in their homes.”
Whether you’re borrowing a camera from our Library of Things or using your own, we hope that after the workshop you feel confident putting your new skills into practice.
Thanks to Go Green Widcombe for collaborating with us on this workshop, and to Retrofit West for their support and funding! Their support has enabled us to purchase a Thermal Imaging Camera, which we used for this workshop and is available to borrow from our Library of Things.

Come and join us for the next workshop on Monday the 10th of March from 19:00 – 20:30pm, or feel free to recommend it to any friends who may be interested!
