Lunch with the Reuse Shop in Keynsham

Successful collaboration between Share and Repair & the Reuse Shop in Keynsham

In just one quarter of 2024 we helped to save 229 items from landfill, in collaboration with the Reuse Shop in Keynsham!

Every fortnight a team of our volunteers heads to the Reuse Shop in Keynsham to PAT Test electrical items, checking whether or not they are safe to use. Items that pass the test then go into the shop and are sold, giving them a second life and saving them from landfill.

The Reuse Shop states that “many items are brought to our recycling centres because they are no longer wanted, not necessarily because they are no longer usable. We want to ensure nothing is needlessly wasted.”

With 50 million tonnes of e-waste produced globally each year according to Business Waste, we’re very pleased to have rescued 229 perfectly usable items from contributing to this huge waste.

Thank you to the Reuse Shop for hosting a lunch with our volunteers, to celebrate the success of the work we have been doing together.

Next year we hope to double our impact, by doubling the number of volunteer hours spent PAT testing at the Reuse Shop – and therefore doubling the number of items saved from landfill!
