When the students moved out of the University of Bath’s Halls this summer, they left behind some small electrical items, which had accumulated into hundreds of unwanted goods.
Rather than letting them go into landfill, we were invited to partner with the University to see what can be saved and put to good use in a new home!
We collaborated on the Leave No Trace Project which was created by the University of Bath Campus Services department. Emma from the University of Bath said ‘We’ve spent hours cleaning and sorting all of the kitchen equipment for the Sustainability Stalls so that it can be reused and Freshers don’t have to buy new. Equipment to pick up includes airers, small electronics, toiletries, cleaning equipment and more. We are asking for suggested donations.’
Toni and seven brilliant volunteers went up to the Uni to PAT test which items are working in good condition. Tim and George skilfully taught everyone how to competently PAT Test electrical goods, and in a productive and very enjoyable four hour session, the boxes of items were completed!

These fully tested items will be available to collect in exchange for charity donations during Freshers Week from the Sustainability Stall, so don’t worry if you forget something from your packing list – you can get small appliances from the University, and rest assured that they’re in brilliant condition!
Thank you to the Sustainability team at the University of Bath for inviting us to collaborate on this brilliant initiative!
