Happy International Repair Day and 15th anniversary of the Repair Cafe movement!
Today we are celebrating the power of repair to bring our communities together, reduce our impact on the planet and sharing skills, and we’ve been celebrating at four Repair Cafes around Bath with cake!
We’ve got a lot to celebrate, over the past seven years we have saved more than 5200 items from landfill by repairing and giving them a new lease of life. And that’s only here at Share and Repair, we are just one of over 3000 Repair Cafe organisations around the world!

Our Founder Lorna said: “As a society, we need to rethink how we dispose of our waste. The challenge is not a lack of desire to do so but limited awareness of exactly ‘how’ it can be done… It is my hope that this year’s theme of ‘Repair for Everyone’ both resonates with people, and encourages everyone to reconsider if an item really has had its day or could be given a new breath of life.”
To help us celebrate these two events our local MP Wera Hobhouse came into the shop to cut our cake. We’ve had some brilliant cakes on the theme of Repair, look at Saltford Repair Cafe’s cake decorated with broken toys and necklaces!
And a big thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped us repair so many items over the years, it wouldn’t be possible without you all.
