HOW TO Workshops

If you’d like to learn how to use your sewing machine, or improve your confidence with sewing projects, we’ve got something for you.

Come along to a HOW TO workshop this month! To attend you will need a ticket, these are donation based so please give what you can afford.

✨ HOW TO Use Your Sewing Machine ✨

This friendly, hands-on workshop is ideal for anyone who would like to learn how to use their sewing machine. The beginner workshop will cover tasks including setting up the machine, winding the bobbin and understanding the buttons and stitches.

Running alongside our Repair Cafe at Southdown, bring along your sewing machine and get advice from experienced volunteers.

📅 Saturday 7th February from 10:00am – 12:30pm

📍 Southdown Methodist Church Hall, The Hollow, Bath BA2 1NJ

✨ Beyond the Basics: Sewing with Confidence ✨

This friendly, hands-on workshop is ideal for anyone who understands the basics of using their sewing machine but lacks confidence when it comes to actually making something or finishing a task like putting in a zip, sewing neat seams, or completing a project.

If you’ve ever thought “I know how to do this… I just want someone to check I’m doing it right”, this session is for you.

The focus is on building confidence, with a volunteer tutor on hand to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide support as you sew. You’ll work at your own pace, with help exactly when you need it.

There are two of these workshops running this month, alongside our Repair Cafes at Farmborough and Bathford, bring along your sewing machine and the project you’re currently working on, and build the confidence to sew with ease.

Bathford Repair Cafe

📅 Saturday 7th February from 10:00am – 12pm

📍 Bathford Parish Hall, 19-1 Church Street, Bathford BA1 7TU

Farmborough Repair Cafe

Tech Amnesty

We’re also running a Tech Amnesty with Donate IT alongside our Repair Cafe at High Littleton.

Donate IT is an organisation that collects unwanted tech, wipes it of its data, and gives it to those who are experiencing digital poverty. Previous donations have gone on to help give people access to jobs, and given equal access to education at school. Why not clear out your unwanted tech?

Check the full list of accepted tech here.

📅 Saturday 7th February from 10:00am – 12:30pm

📍 High Littleton Repair Cafe, Scout Hall, High Street, High Littleton, BS39 6JD

If you know someone who would enjoy improving their sewing skills, why not consider getting them a gift card for one of our HOW TO workshops? These are redeemable against any of the Share and Repair workshops, so your friend or family member can pick and choose what they wish to learn, and walk away with lifelong skills.

We look forward to seeing you at an event in February!
